An Sasala is a PhD Student in the Department of Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies at the University of Kansas. Ze is also completing a graduate certificate in Film & Media Studies. Zir research focuses on transgender identities and experiences and marks the interstices and influences that intrinsically link technology and embodied identities such as gender, sexuality, and race.

An received zir BA in Spanish/Latin American, Caribbean, Latinx Studies, German Studies, and Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies from Gettysburg College in 2015. An's undergraduate research explored transgender protagonists in Latin American literature, and the development of queer time and space during Germany's Weimar Republic.

An Sasala is a GRA  in the WGSS Department during the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters.
